Today was "Pony Day" at our pasture. We spent the day playing with the ponies! It has been so long since we've had time and the weather all insync to be so perfect.
Hubby a/k/a Possum, spent the day working with Champ on his basics, and did some "Squeeze" games by asking him to walk between barrels that were placed closely together. Some know that Champ is our "mystery" puzzle that we are always trying to solve. So asking him to confront the simplist of fears is a major undertaking. We don't know his history - we bought him from a friend that only had him a month or two and he had bought him from someone else. So his background has held some scarey things for Champ that we've been trying to overcome. But he's slowly getting over his issues with head shyness, having his mouth messed with, his ears messed with, etc. We take it slow and easy with him. Possum also spent the day reinforcing voice commands. Possum is so ready to ride him for the first time, but he's just not there yet.
Miss Tinker and I decided to do some ground driving today. She drove like a pro. And remember, I don't have a bit in her mouth. Although she can hold a bit, and has been bridled numerous times, I like to keep working her in a side pull. I want to make her as soft as possible without getting into her mouth just yet. There's plenty of time for that later on. I can tell you that my little girl and I just "click". I ask, and she always gives me 110%, well almost always - she is a MARE after all :)
Well, it was a wonderful day today, and we are planning on doing it again tomorrow. We'll try to get some vids to share with Y'all.
