Moving to Texas from Idaho with 3 kids, 2 horses, multiple cats and dogs was very interesting. Especially when you add in Xtra pulling a U-haul following a 74 Chevy dragging my horses and horse trailer behind it for all its worth. Our first mishap actually happened before we ever left Mountain Home Idaho. The Chevy (which I affectionally call The Ugly Beast) decided to turn the windshield wiper sprayer on by itself and then didn't want to turn it off! After saying a few prayer and hitting it with a bible (pulling switches and yelling at it didn't work), the posessed truck finally turned the wipers off on its own! Needless to say, my husband and I were a tad bit freaked out but down the road we went. There was nothing else to do. When the military calls, you go whether you like it or not. The next mishap occured about 60 miles down the road (if that). I saw a long, skinny chunk of metal shoot out from under the horsetrailer headed straight toward me and the kids. I missed hitting it by inches as it bounced along but then to my horror I saw sparks streaming out from UNDER the horsetrailer! My husband and I had walkie-talkie so I started yelling at him to pull over! Imagen our surprise to find the handle of the jack on the trailer missing and what was left of the jack dragging on the ground (or interstate as it were)! That is just something they never warn you to check. In all my years of trailering, I have never even heard of that happening. I didn't want to get back in my car at this point because who knew what was going to happen next. We did get back on the road and 5 hours later arrived in Ogden Utah only to get lost trying to find the place we were to stable the horses. Google maps sucks sometimes! We drove through wind and driving rain for hours. We all were sad about leaving Idaho behind. When we finally got to our hotel it was 11pm and we were exhausted. Once we let all our fuzzy things out of the cages to snuggle with us, we were all feeling a bit better. We knew that we'd be ok no matter what because we all had each other. I am the proud ringleader of "The Hawkinson Family Circus". All we could do is look back over the day and laugh at all the weird stuff that had happened to us. We traveled for 6 days. This was only the beginning to the funniest, freakiest move I have ever had.

Well I;m glad to see you made it there, safe and sound. I hope when I come to visit my trip will be less eventful.
