Wow. that is irritating! Does that happen to anybody else? Every time I hit the ENTER key, the whole screen shifts back to the top. Very irritating!
Anyway, *it did it again!* lol... Not much going on. Been getting back in the swing of working full time. And trying to remember all the stuff I learned about Tile! Gads, there's tons of stuff I know just can't recall! Thank goodness I have time during the day to read up and do some research on the supplier sites!
So the other thing I've gotten hooked on is this great site called Dragon Cave. You adopt/steal dragon eggs and by getting other people to visit your Scroll you help the eggs hatch and then grow into mature adult Dragons. It's a bit nuts I know.. but totally addictive! Like, it's killing me that I don't have internet at home right now so I end up going the whole weekend without checking on my eggs/hatchlings to see how they are doing! *shakes head* But anyway here is my scroll you can check out if you want! Click Cave to go to the entrance of the Cave and be able to Register and Get Your Own!
SO on the Horse side of things... Cheyenne has improved greatly. The abscess is gone and the infection too. Now we are working on rehabbing the tendon so it doesn't contract. She is doing great with this and I have vet permission to ride her again. Rehab tack walks. FUN. *sarcasm* But I dont ride her too much since she's basically retired. I just make sure she gets walked everyday. And she's on 24hr turnout so no worries about stall stuff. :D
Was starting to get back in the game with Cat and then she lost a shoe and I couldn't get in touch with my farrier for three days! GRRRR >:( But now the shoe is on so I"M GONNA RIDE TONIGHT! WHOOOHOOOOO!
So that is pretty much all that has been going on with me.
Well I haven't been on here in a loooooong time! A lot has happened.
Let's see... okay, so I own The Cat. YAY! And almost immediately she gets a month off work!
Frustrating. But on the plus side, I now have a new job!
The tile company that I used to work for has opened a store in my home town! And I'm the manager! WOOOHOOOO!! I'm a bit freaked out since I've not really done this sort of thing before but so far all is going well.
We've been open two full weeks officially. I've been working here at the store for three or four weeks. There have been a couple installers from the main store here putting tile on the showroom floor and taking down a few walls that were in the way. I'll have to get some pictures up at some point! Basically we have all these mini-squares of tile samples, designs and patterns sort of scattered all over the floor and then that will be surrounded by a neutral field tile. It will look like a tile floor with persian rugs scattered all over it. The people who have come in the store are really amazed at the transformation from a lawnmower dealer/service store to a beautiful showroom. And we're not even finished with it all yet!
So back to horse stuff. I did ride the Cat this past weekend. Even with the time off she remembered most of what we were working on. Which is good. She's had so many start/stops in her training I was worried she would revert and I would have to start all over from scratch. It's frustrating to work with her sometimes because she tries to be too smart. She'll decide that I am asking her something and go with that and then we sort of get into a battle of wills. Me patiently asking the same thing again until she decides that , OH I GET IT! and then we can move on! lol
She really tries hard but with so many start/stop issues in her training I'm still trying to figure out where her head is and just what she knows.
I sort of have a goal to go to a schooling Horse Trial the end of October and do the Hopeful level... We'll see how she progresses by the time of the opening/closing dates for registration.
Well I need to get back to work I guess! Happy trails!
Well, it's official. I am the new owner of a sweet little bay TB mare. Yep her name is Catty Cat and she is the very same TB mare that I've been blogging about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her owner is planning a move and with the market being what it is for green horses, she decided to sign her over to me for what I have in her. I am SOOO THRILLED! lol
So, I guess you might like a little update on the riding? Well, it's going better than it was. We've taken a break from jumping to just to try to quiet her mind a bit. She was just getting more and more anxious. I had a really great Dressage lesson two weeks ago and we've just been building on that. Working toward a nice relaxed walk and trot and more respect for my leg aids. She tends to lean into my leg on circles at the trot. So I've been really getting her to MOVE away more at the walk and using progressively lighter aids. She is getting very responsive and will flex and bend and really soften to the bit at the walk. She will still get tense when we move to trotting but I have went back to riding the whole arena instead of just circles and asking her to move over as we go down the long side. Whenever she gets tense and speedy I've started asking for a downward transition to either walk or halt, depending on how fast she gets.
I am really seeing improvement and hope ONE DAY to get somebody out there with a camera or video! lol
We are thinking of possibly doing a schooling HT in October but I'll have to just see how she goes. I hope to take her to a few schooling shows beforehand to get her more used to it. She's been to one or two but not competed, just standing around. So I really need to see how she reacts IN THE RING at a show!
Also, since I will definitely be starting a NEW JOB by September I am not sure how the schedule for riding will end up. I don't want to try to go to a show and I'm only riding once a week or something! Not fair to her!
So thanks to anybody who stopped by to have a read! I'm just really glad I could be able to share this exciting news with anybody! lol See ya round the ring some time!
Well, just gonna put up a quick post. Didn't ride much this weekend but went out yesterday and had a decent round. I was a bit worried with her having five days off... she tends to revert to her childhood and 'forget' her learning. :)
She was actually pretty good. We did have some issues again with that bending line but started getting it figured out again. We had a minor crash through a small vertical and I jacked my jaw on her poll. OUCH. Had a royal headache the rest of the evening.
But I took her over some ground poles and then back to the vertical and she popped right over without a big issue. :) I was really glad for that.
Today was another day off with the farrier supposed to be coming. He had to reschedule so I didn't end up riding as I wasn't prepared. Yeah I know.... But I had my nephew with me and nobody else was there so I couldn't run the risk of me getting hurt or something and just him there! On a different horse it would have been no issue... but I do not fully trust Cat yet.
Tomorrow I"m thinking of taking her out of the arena and playing on the XC field for a bit. :D
