Shotgun & I Barrel Racing
Just Being Me
My name is Kathy and I am a mother of three wonderful teenagers. One is now an adult and I still have a hard time at times believing that time has gone by that fast. All three of them have been the light of my life. My oldest daughter Lyn is now 21 and she's the "Artist" of the family and I'm so very proud of her and all she has accomplished. I look forward to what she accomplishes in her adult life too. She bowls on a youth bowling league, and she just graduated from High School and she starts college in the fall as well as riding her horse from time to time.
Update as of Jan 18, 2008 - Lyn is now in her second year at the local junior college and has plans to transfer down to Sarasota, Florida to the Ringling Bro's Art Institute.
I have a son named Thom who is now 18. He's the quiet type, loves to play video and computer games, works at a local grocery store, he seems to like that and he is also a league bowler.
Then there is my youngest, she's the musician of the family, she has also turned out to be quite the little horse rider too. Music is her life and horses come in there at some point too. She's the strong minded one in my opinion. She seems to speak her mind even when it might get her in trouble and she is good to those around her. She plans on majoring in music when she enters college. All three of them have been the light in my life and have brought me such joy and kept me from going off the deep end. Without them I'd be nothing.
I love music except for "rap," I just gain nothing from it. My music taste varies from one end of the spectrum to the other. I've been gifted with a "green thumb" and horticulture is so rewarding. I like to take photographs of nature, especially blossoms. I don't think that nature could be any more perfect when creating blossoms. It's amazing how many different shapes, colors and sizes there is. Some smell good, some don't have any scent, some smell like dead bodies and then of course there is those that have such bold colors how can one not stop and enjoy the beauty.
I spend alot of time with my horses too. We have four horses, however, two of them are here locally and those are the two that we spend so much time with. (The other two have since been moved back over here to be with other two and finally I have all four of them on grass and getting fat and sassy.) We belong to a local riding club and participate in pole bending, texas weave, clover leaf and the arena race. Racing is so exhilarating, scary and fun! I also enjoy spending hours trail riding too. There is something peaceful about being on a horse and riding the countryside. Everyday life just seems to disappear for a while and all the cares of the world are gently washed away while riding.
Update as of 1/18/08 - Down to one horse for the time being and we have been spending a lot of time together when I'm not working or the weather is being nasty.
I have been a stay at home mom for over 19 years now. I'm in the process of doing some research to see about returning to college to earn a BA in Science Education on a secondary level. (Well it looks as if I will be returning back to college. I discovered I am only about 8 classes away from graduating with my Associate of Arts & Sciences degree and then it's onward bound to a BA in teaching, hurray!) ***(I am now three classes away from my Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts) I think that I'd make a great Science teacher not to mention that I feel that I get along with teenagers very well and I love children in general and want to make a difference. Maybe I can share my love of horticulture as well while teaching science.
