    Its Been A While

    Saturday, December 1, 2007, 02:09 PM [General]

Well it is December 1, 2007 and it seems that winter has decided to arrive in force. We had freezing rain this morning that just turned into rain. It is suppose to turn back into freezing rain again tonight.

It has been a while since I posted. I have been really busy with my new position at work and I have been working with the horses too. I did get a new horse, a gelding that was suppose to be very well broke but the 4th time I rode him he bucked me off with the force of a bucking bronc coming out of a shoot. Needless to say I did some research and this is not the first time but it was going to be the last time he did it to me. He now belongs to someone else. I got him to rebuild my confidence in riding since back in July I was hurt very badly and went to the hospital via ambulance after having lost conscienceness and stopped breathing. Not something I care to repeat. So now I suppose I will wait till next year (2008) when my boys are ready to go and just stick with them. My back is still jacked up as well as one hip and I think my body needs the additional time especially since I just got dumped once again. I have been thrown more in 2007 than I have in my entire life. All I know is that my back and my neck hurt real bad. So I will give it time.

No more word on the horses that were in the accident that I posted about before. I think they have all been taken well care of and are finding new homes.

I have accomplished a lot with my now gelding since I turned him into a gelding. His training is giong much better. My other gelding is a training dream come true. I think he will be my best one. Since the weather is bad I am not doing much of anything outside except feeding and watering and making sure that everyone is doing alright. They are. They don't seem to mind it much. The babies can go into the barn but apparently from the looks of them they prefer to be outside. Oh well. I guess they will come in when they want or need to.

    Foals Update

    Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 05:55 PM [General]

Ok there is more news now about the foals that were involved in the accident in Illinois. As the story goes, they were bought at a sale and were enroute to MN but none knows if that is a true fact. They are currently being taken very good care of and veterinarians have seen them and given them meds. This also makes them unfit for human consumption, which is a good thing. They will not be able to go to slaughter. They are trying to track down the owner which I may or may not have said in my previous blog. There was no documentation on these foals during transport which is illegal. An insurance company has shown up to take possession, however, I am not sure they will get possession. The whole thing stinks and a lot of people think they were really enroute to Canada to a slaughter house. I don't know if we will ever learn the truth. The survivors seem to be doing well and under good care. They are at someone's farm and the authorities have taken over the case. Lets just hope that if there was wrong doing that those responsible will be brought to justice.

    Foals in need of help

    Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 01:19 PM [General]

I don't know if anyone has heard but there was a truck full of what appears to be draft horse foals on its way to slaughter. It turned over on Saturday night and some of the foals didn't make it but a majority of them did. We do not know yet what is going to happen with them but I have offered to take one or two of them. If anyone else is interested, this accident happened in Illinois and I can put in contact with someone if you are interested in taking a foal or two or ten. We do not know if they will be released as of yet but I am awaiting more information today.

Any and all help would be appreciated. These foals were out of mares that are on a PMU farm and once weaned they were just left to go to slaughter. I guess they thought they were dispensible. This is dispicable. I will post more when I know more.

    Thank you.

    Welcome

    Tuesday, October 30, 2007, 09:01 AM [General]

I have never done this before but will try it out. I suppose I will use my blog to write and keep track of what we are doing with the horses. I have a few that are in training right now (by me) so I like to chart their activities and their progress. The pictures I have posted below don't show the complete picture until you click on one of them. These are some of my horses. There are a lot more but not enough room to put up everyone.
