We finally sold Buddy the pony, but had to practically give him away. I know it's a bad time to try to sell a horse or a pony, and it's felt everywhere, but it still stinks. He went to a good home, and it's one less to provide grain, hay, and Sand Clear for. I want to spend as much time as possible with all of them, but when you both work full time, have a four year old to take care of, and quite a few animals to take care of there's just never enough time in the day!! We used to raise goats, and sheep also, but between the two species we had around 40. When we went to go trail riding we have someone feed for us, and check on everyone. It's a little stressfull when your worring about who's going to kid or lamb while your gone, and if their going to have any problems. Then your trying to explain over the phone how to help the doe or ewe if she needs help, and how to tell if there is another one still in there. It just got to be too much to ask someone else to do. We sold all of our sheep, and kept 7 goats including my buck. We had a few rabbits, and found homes for them. Things are alot easier now, and it takes alot less time to feed!! Does anyone else here raise Boer goats or any other breeds of goats or sheep? I was just curious... Well enough of my rambling...lol
I have Boer goats! Actually, they're Boer-Spanish crosses. I bought them for use as weed-eaters so it didn't matter that they were all males. I didn't realize until the guy delivered them that they had not been neutered! Grrrr... now I have 4 billy goats! They manage to stay in some kind of trouble, but they do keep the fence lines clean.
