At my age, blogging is one of the few things I'm new at. Have started a blog on my website too and will try and keep both updated about living on Montana's Rocky Mountain Front, or at least my life and perspectives of life here. The "Front" as we refer to it, is a very unigue place. The transition area from the plains to the mountains, it is extremely varied in wildlife, landscape, weather and life. Retired, I now ride or have ridden for, nine different ranches in the area. These are ranches and ranchers who prefer the old ways and do as much as possible with their cattle on horseback. Will try and let you all know what it is like here. Yesterday for instance, I rode for the Yeager Ranch sorting neighbors cattle of of the Yeager herd along with a few heifers that the rancher wanted to bring in. When finished there, I trailered to the Crary Ranch where I helped the owner and his wife sort out a bunch of heifers they were shipping east to another ranch. Temperatures were good for a change, but the wind, which is a way of life around here, was gusting to 50 mph. Not fun, but with warmer temps, bearable. Is the time of year when things slow down so may not have much to say from time to time. Any and all comments and questions are welcome.
