Hi Everyone,
I just joined your site. Looks like there are a lot of horse lovers on here. I sure hope to make some new friends. I have loved horses since I was a very small girl. I took my first horse ride before I was born. I don't know whether or not that has anything to do with my love for horses or not, but I like to think is does. I grew up with Registered Quarter horses, and showed in 4H, and a lot of open shows. My horse was a cross between a double registered quarter horse and a registered shetland pony. The latter was the father. He only stood about 40 inches tall, and the mare was over 15 hh. I don't know how they managed but my horse was the result. He was a dark chocolate with palomino dapples and a snow white mane and tail. His color changed just about every year for a long time, but while I showed him, he stayed the dark chocolate with white mane and tail. It took me several years to break and train him, but when he was trained, he was nearly impossible to beat in a pleasure class. I had a boy who was world champion english rider at 16 to help me with the training and my riding. So I had a good teacher. After he got out of English he went western. He had a direct son of Poco Bueno, and showed him is some of the biggest shows in the U.S. He was just 4 points away in reining from AQHA Champion and hurt his shoulder coming off a mare. So he didn't get his last 4 points.
I had many chances to sell my horse for $10,000.00, but he wasn't for sale. He was my first, and no one could ride him but me, and even at 28 yrs old, he was still trying to throw me off. He was a cantankerous old fool, but he stayed with me till I had to have him put down at 30. It just about broke my heart too. He was my best friend.
Any way I hope to make some new friends here.
Luana
