    Stiff from riding

Monday, February 25, 2008, 04:48 PM MST [General]

So, I finally got to do some "relaxed" riding around the house yesterday. It coulda been alot more "relaxed" if Frosty hadn't decided it was "be a total brat" day. About the first 10-20 minutes was spent bucking around in circles. I was suprised, she almost got me off once, but I somehow managed to recover. I don't know why she was being such a brat, she was just fine at the roping/barrel practice. Anyway, after she settled a bit it was ok.

I got a bit of a laugh at the sight we got when we came around the corner by the tack barn after we were done. I looked toward the stock tank and what did I see? Keeda standing IN the tank!! She just stood there and neighed at me like "Mommy!! Mommy!! Look at me!!" Then she went to step over the edge to get out and come see me and Frosty and discovered she was "stuck." Then she started squealing up a storm loud enough to wake the dead. So, to get the little idiot out I had to lift one front foot out and set it on the ground, do the same with the other one, pull her up further so I could get her hind legs out, and repeat the process with her back legs. *shakes head* After she got out she ran to Frosty, sniffed noses with her, and then took off runnin and buckin and squealin all the way to the other horses at the end of the pasture.

Anyway, my back and inner thighs are so stiff from riding for the 2-3 hours I did yesterday. You never notice how much you use your thighs and calves when you ride until you've been off for about 5 months and come back for a 3 hour ride, lol. I could seriously go for a full body massage. =p

Finally gettin' some riding time in!

Monday, February 18, 2008, 05:12 PM MST [General]

I'm out at the local arena warming up in my trailer right now. I just got done with team roping practice with Frosty and Flopper. I rode Flopper the first 3 heats and Frosty the last 3. Kyle and me took 2nd in the first heat, Cody and I took 4th in the second heat, Keith and I didn't place in the third heat because his horse balked right before he threw the rope. I switched to Frosty now. Hadyn and I took 1st in the fourth heat! Dan and I took 3rd in the fifth heat, and Larry (my second dad, lol) and I took 4th in the last heat. A pretty good day over all I think.

Right now I'm on Cody's laptop(w/ his permission! sheesh, lol) in my trailer (we trailer-pooled) trying to get the feeling back in my toes before I have to go back uot and ride some more. I'm only using Frosty for barrels because Flopper hasn't been ridden heavily like Frosty has in ages and needs a break. They're just now starting to drag the arena so I've got about 15 minutes before they're set up and ready to roll. We're the third ones to go in the first heat, the next heat is figured by placement in the first heat so I don't know, obviously, lol. I'll have Cody update since he can't leave w/out me. =) Ahhh, the joys of trailer pooling.

Hey people, this is Cody... Ok, Chelsea placed 2nd in the first heat, 1st in the second heat, 4th in the third heat, and 16th the fourth heat because of a bad start and a knocked barrel. That 16th put her out of the race, so she's done for the night. She's just gettin ready to load up so I guess I'll go now...

    *sigh*

Sunday, February 17, 2008, 08:14 PM MST [General]

Hey. I'm uber bored right now so I thought I'd post, even though I don't have much to say. Soo... I finished Eldest today. Good book. Can't wait for Brissingr to come out. I kinda feel...bleh. I'm just not in a good mood today I guess. I've been having guy problems but no one likes to listen to those, so I'll keep them to myself. So... how is everyone? Doin' good I hope. Oh, I just remembered a pretty funny story from the other day when I came home. (It's been really snowy here and the snow on our road it packed hard & to add to that, it rained the other night and then froze, so everything is super slick) I came home from a friend's house and as I pulled in the yard my dog came running at the car. I slow way down because it's icy and I don't wanna hit the idiot. As he gets close to the car, he goes to slow down but started to slide (I saw this comin so I stopped the car ahead of time), his eyes get huge and he litterally sat down into a sliding stop and smacked right into the side of my car! It was soooo funny! The look on his face was price-less! He didn't hurt anything on the car (or himself thank God), I think the only thing hurt was his pride, lol. He lookded so embarrased afterward when I came up to him to see if he was ok. *shakes head* Silly dog. Ok, I've bored anyone who actually read this long enough.

    See ya.

    Fun day sledding

Thursday, February 14, 2008, 04:14 PM MST [General]

    Hey people. Happy v-day!

So, my high school is hosting the 4-C Divisionals for Eastern Mt, west ND, and Northern Wyoming. My point is....we got out at noon today! (same as tomorrow). So, since me and one of my friends had yet to play in the snow this year (sad, I know), we decided to go sledding! It was soooo much fun! I haven't been sledding in I don't know how many years! I had my little green "saucer" and she had a regular sled. There was one time, when we were racing down this huge hill, I hit a huge ramp-like bump and lost my balance, rolled about 4 or 5 times while still on the sled, landed rightside up and kept going! It was soooo funny! I'm sure everyone else at the hill with us got a good laugh! Then we went to one of the parks in town and went down the smaller hills there for a while. We hit a few trees there though, lol. It was great, everytime we veered toward a tree we'd yell "ABANDON SHIP!!" and dive off like the stupid, fun-loving people we are, lol.

    Well, 'til next time.

    Update

Tuesday, February 12, 2008, 07:51 PM MST [General]

Well, as I promised, here's an update.

Me- I'm doing good overall. Just finished Eragon and I'm now just starting Eldest. I've been bored out of my mind because of the cold weather and the snow. Tomorow after school our 4Hfruit sales start. Oh joy. I finally got my Clinton Anderson dvds and Keeda's halter today. I got to the 4th dvd and decided it was time for a break. Ok, I've bored you long enough with my rambling about me.

Frosty- She's doin good. She's her usual loveable annoying self. Her and snickers have been having little spats occasionally though. I swear they're like twins personality wise. They're both attention hogs with endless curiosity. She starts barrel trining when the snow melts and it starts waming up. I think she'll enjoy it, she's got tons of evergy and has had all winter off.

Keeda- She's doin pretty good too. She's still got a small growth-like thingy on her left hind leg that she's had since we got her in August. We took her to the vet for it a while back and they said it was ok and that they thought she'd grow out of it. I'm thinking of taking her to Wibaux for a second opinion though. Her new pink halter fits her perfectly! She's sooo cute in it! She's grown so much from August! As soon as it dries up and gets warmer she's going into major training. I've got to get her perfect for the fair this year, I've got some hard competition that ships their horses off to pro's instead of training them theirselves like your supposed to.

Snickers- She's fine. Her curiosity has been getting her into trouble lately. She's gotten her leg tangled in some smooth wire that's part of the fence because she stands there and paws at it, she's gotten her head stuck in a 5 gallon bucket tryin to see if there was anything in it, and she's literally roped herself while playin with my lariat I hung on a nail in the barn. She's a walking pain in my butt, Everytime I turn around she's into something and causing trouble. Luckily she hasn't hurt herself. She's smart enough to know not to freak and pull when she's caught in something, instead she just stands there with the dumbest look on her face until someone gets her out of the mess she's in. She's also been driving Frosty up the wall. They're so much alike it's not even funny.

Flopper- She's good as ever. Her and Keeda just hang back and chill while Frosty and Snickers bicker back and forth. She's kinda getting a bit of an attitude. She doesn't like being petted or rubbed anymore, with the exception of her back and above her tail. If you try to pet her anywhere else she pulls back or steps away with her ears pinned. The vets checked her out to be ok, so I think she's just one of those horses who doesn't like to be loved on. She mostly keeps to herself, so there's not much to say about her.
