    Hi

I have a problem I have ever ecoutered before...Ca anyone help..

I have a Draft/warmblood ex drivig horse Im re-training to ride.  She is accepting riders but when I trail ride her she shakes her head.  This is getting to be a problem...

she is extremely foreward going and when held back she starts the bad behaviour!!

Not sure what to do as I have ever encountered it before????

Any ideas would be great...I ride her in a Kimberwick..which Im sure is ot great either...

She is good and does respond to my commands...She slows down and has great brakes!

Have a chiropractic vet check her out. Sometimes the atlas gets out of wack and they need to be adjusted.

Go to www.ahvma.org American Veterinary Chiropractic Association and find someone near you. Or ask around if someone you know uses a chiro vet, someone they really trust.
Very often problem behaviors in a horse are caused by un-addressed physical discomfort.

    Hope that helps.

Sorry I was going to add that also if you find someone that does cranialsacral adjustments on horses that may help also.

A chiro vet may do that also.

Have the vet check her all over, not just the head. Something might be out in her back, neck or hips and by riding her that may exaserbate the problem. Just because she is shaking her head doesn't necessarily mean it is the head.

Many times horses, as people do, get out of alignment. But unlike people they can't tell us where they are out, or hurt. So these types of behaviors start because the issue is never addressed.

    Again good luck!
