It is starting to swelter here and it isn't even May yet. Our high was 85 today and that is a bit of a cool down. Poor Kid. We are going on a trail ride tomorrow and I couldn't let him suffer. He is hot by nature anyway and the older he gets, the longer the winter coat clings. Today I spent two hours clipping him and didn't get it all. Then I bathed him and he loved it. His first bath of the spring. All the dirt and grime just fell off. Of course then he wanted to roll! Maybe I will get some good pics tomorrow to post.
Time to Ride
I wish I had time to ride. I know Kid doesn't mind if I just feed him a carrot or two and give him a cowboy dust off. It is my mental health that is suffering. I have been so busy working and our daughter, her husband and our beautiful granddaughter arrived a week ago. The things and 18 month old child can get into and the exercise class she leads for Mimi is amazing. It is going to continue for another week. No complaints, I don't get to see enough of them. An old picture of Kid in the mist. It kind of reflects my mood.
Fresh Paint
We got a new horse at the barn and I think he thinks he is related to Kid. He was rescued and is very shy. Kid usually is the bottom of the herd, but I think Apache now has that honor. He has a very sweet disposition.
After the snow and the warm up came the rain. We have had five days of nonstop rain. We are still being told we are in a draught situation. I am not complaining, we have needed the rain, but two days on and two days off would be nice.
Snow Days

I just joined Horsecity and thought I would post a couple of pictures from our recent rare 6.5 inch snowfall. The snow started on Sunday and finished falling on Monday and by Friday it was 70 degrees. That is the south for you. The dogs run all day anyway, but it was fun to see them play with and in the snow. The horse (Kid) just wanted to roll in the mud as usual. My fingers were frozen after taking just a couple of pics.
