i am about to face the hardest decision of my life. as you may or may not know i have three horses my oldest being 24 and i love this horse with all my heart i have had her for 5 years and she is going downhill she wasn't taken care of in her younger years so she's been difficult to get healthy i now must choose to either keep her and sell my 8 y/o paint. or vice versa. i love her to death but i just can't afford to keep all three. i cannot ride my old baby due to back problems but i don't want to see her go and i have trust issues with other ppl and the vast amount of vet attention she requires. my paint is completely ridable and a wonderful trail horse but he doesn't get along with jackie (my mustang) i am officially in my first pickle. . . HELP!!!!!!

i feel so sad for you! i've been in situations where, no matter what, you have to get rid of a horse. it's HORRIBLE! i hope you make a descision you end up happy with! |
Sounds like you have quite an issue at hand. You might try advertising her as a pasture mate. Or if she can be ridden at all (maybe only light rides?) you might find someone with a young kid. Also, depeding on your area, there are some rescues that sepcialize in older horses and might be able to give her a good home.
