I brought Patches home from the trainer's house on Wednesday and can't wait to ride! She's been there since early June and I've been out to ride her a few times, but it hasn't been nearly enough! We're giving her some time to get re-acclimated to the other horses and to the grass, but I hope her head will be in the right place sometime this weekend so I can get in at least a little riding.
The weather has gotten so nice, just a hint of fall in the air.. perfect riding weather! Looks like there's a chance of rain both days, but hopefully we'll be able to fit in at least a couple of hours!
My Dad took his horse out to the trainer yesterday, too. He's 14 and thinks he's a pet. They imprinted him back when that was the "thing" to do. Apparently not such a good idea after all. He's generally a good horse, rides well, but has a couple of vices that need to be fixed. One is trailer loading. He has absolutely refused to load for about a year now, and even before then had refused to load to come home from a ride. Talk about causing a problem!
Gilbert loaded him in 17 minutes. My Mom timed him.
I think they're confident that this will be money well-spent!
I will report back on Monday with how she's doing!
